2010’s LA Poker Classic will be Record Breaking
Just this week, the plans for 2010’s LA Poker Classic will announced, and organizers have promised that it will be recording breaking. The Poker event, set to run from January through March will have some of the biggest pot guarantees to hit Poker in a while. It’s expected to draw in some of the biggest names in Poker, as well as quite a few huge celebrities for their celebrity invitational event.
Poker events like this one are even more important with the online gambling laws in the United States beginning to be enforced by December 1, 2009. With big events like the LA Poker Classic that will have a mass appeal, people will get the hint; Poker’s not going anywhere anytime soon!
The LA Poker Classic is a World Poker Tour event with $3.3 million guaranteed in the pot and potentially some $20 million at stake. This will make it a record breaking event that everyone can’t wait to get involved with, and that’s exactly the point! On January 21st the LA Poker Classic event will kick off with $335 No Limit Texas Hold Em event that will have a $1,000,000. Players will have the opportunity to buy their way back into the event if they bust with re-buys. Additional events at the LA Poker Classic will include a 2-7 Tripe Draw Tournament, and Iron Man Tournament, a High Roller Tournament, a HORSE Tournament and a Head’s Up Championship.
Buy-ins for all tournaments are set so they appeal to a wide range of players. Some go for $220 while others are into the thousands at up to $25,100 for entry. The World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational is also set to start on February 20th, and will air alongside the LA Poker Classic on FOX Sports Net.
The WPT is hoping that the LA classic will appeal to recreational players, as well as to the pros, capturing a greater audience at a time when the future of Poker, at least online, has been in question. With a wide mix of events, this Poker tournament is sure to attract plenty of viewers as well as a great mix of players to ensure that Poker isn’t going anywhere!
