Support for online poker

Lee Rousso - lawyer - former gubernatorial candidate and Poker Players Alliance (PPA) regional director for the state of Washington, noted in his most recent PPA update that he received a very favorable ruling towards his case challenging the criminalization of online poker and online gambling in Washington state - clearing the way for his case to be heard in court on May 15.

Rousso’s case challenges the constitutionality of a 2006 Washington law making online poker and online gambling a Class C felony. He filed the lawsuit on the first day of the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event. When state legal representatives for months delayed the hearing, asking for Rousso’s personal online poker information as part of their discovery process - Rousso lodged an appeal - saying the requests “were propounded to harass - oppress - intimidate and threaten” him.

Due to a change in court scheduling, Rousso’s hearing date has been moved back to May 15. Rousso asks all local poker players to come to court to show their support for online poker.
